Still working on work table

I needed another outlet so I ran one to the table - idea was to move my lights over each side
I got the electric run but then realized could not move the lights as my daughter had my really tall step ladder
Then I remembered I had another workshop light I had bought but never used (didnt like the design - they hung funny from roof and had no off/on pull only unplug ) and put it right under the shelf and it throws some good light

I played with some cabs I lampworked  for the center of the new pendants - still not happy

Looks not so bad 

Look like little alien space ships - too tall

I think I  know what I want but I cant find the dichro zentangle etched small pieces I made - I had them at the show and put them into another box as I needed the little box I had them in 

spent a half hour going through the show boxes twice and cant find - maybe today 

Re-arranging work area

Over the months things have been piling up on my work tables and at some point its so messy I need to clean up - I built a new shelf over the work table and cleaned up so now I can work without pushing things out of the way - I do have to rearrange the lights so its not over top of the shelf - possibly put one on each side

and I cleaned up my etching area- the table was stained with the ferric and it cleaned up using the lysol toilet bowl cleaner (the one with the goose neck - blue gel) 

same stuff I used to clean the sink and got all the stains off and a little on your fingers takes the stains out as well 

got a plastic table cloth at the dollar store and another cookie sheet to put under the glass container on the hot plate  and another plastic container to keep my chemicals in in case of drips etc..  so happy to have those areas cleaned up 

still have quite a few more areas to move around and clean up but now I can work on my etching better

But like I say - I can spend more time cleaning, moving things around and not getting anything made or finished  - but maybe tomorrow

 I did a pre post and asked if anyone had suggestions - I had 1 person and they like the new etch pendants - but I have not  finished and not sure when I will - rather I selected something I have completed - but that does not mean in the future one will not be offered.

So the give-a-way for this month is one of my new Zentangle  engraved Dichro Pendants
Its hard to get the colors to show exactly what they are but here it is

I got it to show the hot pink, red and greens 

on some angles the hot pink comes up looking blue

Wow - Its June - I'll post the give-a-way tomorrow

Time fly's   I'll be posting the give-a-way prize for June  tomorrow - I'm off on my first friday vacation day tomorrow so I'll have time - I like to take the fridays during the summer it gives me 3 full days off to relax and on the holidays like Canada Day  and the civic and labor day I get that extra time off. So looking forward to it

Working on Etched Copper Pendants

Back to the studio tonight - a little clean up  and moving things around (I can constantly do this without making a single thing )  but I needed to clean up after the weekend with the grandchild - she gets everything all over and I still have not finished cleaning up for the spring.

Finished cleaning up my pendants and thinking about what to put in the center

Someone asked what I used for soldering 

I would have used my little smith torch but I evidently must have touched the hose and burned a hole in it so I grabbed my trusty regular torch and used it - works just as well

I like the auto light - grab - hit the button and I'm in business 

takes only a couple minutes and I was done 

Of course I was thinking all day about what to put in the centers 

I decided I wanted to torch a cabochon

and of course nothing was connected - since I took the torch back  down to the house along with the hose and fittings for the oxy concentrators  

I had bought a 2nd set of hose and fittings as I have two pair of oxy cons 

so it took me about 20 minutes to find the 2nd set - which when I started to put together found that one of the fittings was broken - so I tried glue - didnt work - and the filters they put on slow the oxy so I cut them out 

and finally I used another copper fitting and connected the hose to the torch and oxy as a temp fix 

so now I could just turn on the propane and the oxy cons and torch 

I did make th cab -  and it was a bit too big - deep and I used the grinder to shave down a bit 

but next one will be not as deep  and a bit larger - I'll make a template on my marver to ensure the circumference is right 

I took the pic at a good angle so you dont see how bad it looks from the side  but I think I will make the cabs via torch - fast and easy - this one is a bit darker than I would like - a lighter purple maybe 

MOREZentangle Copper Etched Pendant bases prepping

Still working on pendants - got all soldered today  and finished eventually cleaned them all up
a good size  2" pendant- even dozen - now what to put in the center

Be careful what you wish for -  hot and humid - but rainy Saturday -  Have my granddaughter for the weekend

we started with a trip to the dump and workd our way up to the studio

Making an indoor hopscotch

I made a tester for another piece - took the earring blank - did a hole - punched ends and dapped

worked out the way I want so I put a bunch of etched pieces together 

 and started cleaning them up and I'll work on them some time this week

What I really wanted to do was something I've been thinking about for the last two weeks of putting together 

Its a large round zentangle etched copper piece - which I stamped with my staz on and zentangle rubber stamp 

I punched out a center hole and dapped it 

and I got another disc (one that would be slightly larger than the hole- and dapped it so that it created a deep well 

and put on the back  and soldered it  

out of the pickle - looks awful 

but a little rub not so bad 

all cleaned up 

I love to use the dremel with the split mandrel and sandpaper

It has a well in the center

I had this idea of adding some glass flowers  to make a pendant /broach

but once I had it together the ones I made were too big  

but of course I started to make more 

got more prepped for sunday assembly 

but I did solder another 

and did not dap as deep 

of course I wanted to see what I could put in the center - ideally I want one of my zentangle engraved but nothing on hand so I did up a dichro piece 

Unfired fits 

fired - is smaller - I'll have to remember that 

but it gives me an idea of what I want for the center setting
